Member of Parliament for Plymouth Moor View
Alison Seabeck MP has been successfully elected by her fellow MPs onto two powerful committees in the House of Commons.
Alison will now serve on the Defence Select Committee and the Back Bench Business Committee.
In the elections for the Defence Select Committee, Alison won more votes than any other Labour MP and will now serve on this committee over the coming Parliament. Alison will use her position to make sure that the government makes decisions in the best interests of our brave men and women in the military and to ensure that the Government doesn't make any rash decisions about the future of HMNB Devonport or the dockyard. Alison has always fought hard to secure Plymouth's future at the heart of the Navy and she will continue to do so on the Defence Committee.
The Back Bench Business committee is a new body set up in this Parliament to make sure that back bench members of the House of Commons are able to have more say on what happens in Parliament so that important local issues are heard. Alison has already held a debate in the Commons on Water charges in the South West and will be using her position on the committee to ensure that other important local issue are raised in the House of Commons.
