Stop the Devonport Incinerator

DevonportAlison Seabeck MP worked over two years with local residents in Ernesettle to successfully oppose a waste to energy incinerator in that area. Now, Tory-run Plymouth City Council is looking at putting an incinerator at North Yard in Devonport, less than 50 metres from family homes in Barne Barton.

Alison strongly opposes any attempt to put the incinerator so close to St Budeaux homes and thinks that, if an incinerator is to be built, that it should be in Lee Mill, away from housing. Alison is working with local community groups, and residents to campaign against any incinerator at North Yard.

Alison says:"I recently attended a meeting at the Guildhall as part of the travelling exhibition on the incinerator. I spoke with a City Council Planner and discussed the impact of the Devonport site on my constituents as opposed to the Lee Mill site where housing is some considerable distance away. Barne Barton homes are within 50 metres of the plant. The visual impact on those people will be significant and were this to proceed to planning committee this would have to be a major issue as would the vehicle movements in and out of the site."
